GAMBIER, Ohio - The Kenyon College women's swimming and diving opened their North Coast Athletic Conference season in dominant fashion Saturday, overwhelming John Carroll University 246-52 in a dual meet at the Kenyon Aquatic Center. The Owls captured every swimming event and swept the diving competitions to secure the decisive victory.

The Owls started strong with a victory in the 200-yard medley relay, led by senior
Gwen Eisenbeis, sophomore
Kelsey Van Eldik, junior
Maggie Grespin, and senior
Lisa Torrecillas-Jouault, finishing in 1:42.39. Torrecillas-Jouault added an individual win in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 57.33, while Eisenbeis posted the fastest time in the 50-yard freestyle at 23.88.

In the freestyle events, senior
Molly Haag captured the 200-yard freestyle in 1:51.22, with first-year Deniz Güvenç close behind in 1:53.76. Van Eldik led the Owls in breaststroke, winning the 100-yard event in 1:01.54 and the 200-yard race in 2:17.95. Distance freestyle events also highlighted Kenyon's strength, as sophomore
Nora Lee Brown claimed the 500-yard freestyle in 4:57.88 and the 1,000-yard freestyle in 10:16.12.

The butterfly events were equally impressive. Junior
Sofia Giordano took the 200-yard butterfly in 2:03.25, while first-year
Nora Kortuem and junior
Amelia Stevenson posted a one-two finish in the 100-yard butterfly with times of 57.27 and 57.53, respectively. In the 400-yard individual medley, junior
Ashlyn Widmer led the Owls with a time of 4:30.30, followed closely by teammates
Sylvia Thompson and
Cecilia Woare, who notched a time of 4:38.39 and 4:41.55 respectively.

Kenyon's diving corps finished the job, sweeping the 1-meter and 3-meter competitions. Sophomore
Nadia Milovich won the 1-meter with a score of 419.17, while teammate Lucy Cassell-Kelly secured first in the 3-meter with a score of 263.62.

Up next, Kenyon faces Ohio Wesleyan University in an NCAC showdown on Friday, November 7. The swim team will travel to OWU, while the diving team stays home in Gambier, hosting the diving portion. Competition is set to begin at 5 p.m.
