Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse |

Owls beat Bulldogs at home to remain undefeated

GAMBIER, Ohio – In a contest that was originally scheduled to be the team's second road test of the 2025 campaign, the Kenyon College men's lacrosse team hosted Adrian College on Saturday afternoon from The Field at Benson Bowl.

With 10 Owls finding the stat sheet and three turning in hat tricks coupled with great defense on the other end, the home team was able to dispatch the Bulldogs 17-11 to remain unbeaten this season at 4-0.

Kenyon (4-0) started out firing, as Rollins Heath netted the first goal of the contest followed by the first goal of the season from Thomas Nelson. Mike Kapral got on the board and was assisted by Heath, making it 3-1 Owls with 10:22 to play in the first.

Adrian (1-2) mounted a nice run to take their sole lead in the contest in the following four minutes, rattling off a 3-0 heater to take a 4-3 advantage with 6:02 in the opening frame. Kenyon stifled that quickly as Miles Malawer evened up the score less than a minute later, while David Chintala and Hill Carter capped off a 3-0 run to end the first up 6-4.

The Owls continued the streak into the second quarter as Malawer found twine again followed by Jack McCarren and Kapral. The Bulldogs scored two straight with 30 seconds left in the half to cut the lead to 9-7, but Kapral found his hat trick with just nine seconds left assisted by Gavin Gumucio to take a 10-7 advantage to the break.

After halftime is where Kenyon found its stride, scoring the first four goals of the third. Cole Abel, Kapral, and Chintala twice beat the visiting netminder to open up a 14-7 lead with 9:16 to play in the third. Although Adrian would score two more to end the quarter, Tanner Lewis kept Kenyon's foot on the gas and turned in a goal of his own to set the score 15-9 after three.

Henry Powell netted his first career goal to start the fourth, while Malawer got his third of the afternoon to cap off a great offensive day for the Owls. Malawer's three goals and an assist tied Kapral's four goals for most points in the game, while Chintala and Heath each added three points.

Owen Breen set new career bests and led the Kenyon defense with two caused turnovers, while Nelson added a two new career best, scooping up 22 ground balls to go along with 27 faceoff wins out of 31 attempted (87.1 percent). Adam Hall made four saves in net, while Jac Dimaculangan added three in relief.

The Owls will now embark on a five-game road trip that also dips into the first North Coast Athletic Conference game. Kenyon's first matchup will be in Danville, Kentucky on March 1 at 1:00 pm against Centre College.
