Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse |

Owls dealt first loss of season by Red Devils

CARLISLE, Penn. – Playing in the first of three road games in Pennsylvania before kicking off the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) schedule, the Kenyon College men's lacrosse team faced off against No. 13 Dickinson College on Wednesday afternoon.

The Owls could not keep up with the Red Devils, who took an early lead and never let it go, eventually dealing Kenyon its first loss of the season 18-5.

Dickinson (3-1) scored the first three goals of the afternoon to jump out to a lead at 10:47 of the first quarter. Rollins Heath scored two unassisted goals for the Owls in the first quarter, but the visitors trailed 5-2 after 15 minutes.

The second quarter is where the Red Devils began to pull away, netting six goals compared to one on the other end. Kenyon's (5-1) lone goal came from David Chintala, who received a nice pass from Mike Kapral and capitalized for his tenth tally of the season. Heading into the break, the Owls trailed 11-3.

Both defenses tightened up after halftime, but the home team retained its advantage, scoring three goals. Lucas Flynn added a goal for Kenyon, assisted by Chintala to set the score 14-4. Chintala added his second goal of the day to match Heath on a man-up attempt in the fourth quarter, but it was not enough to make a dent in the Red Devils lead.

Thomas Nelson went 9-of-22 (40.9 percent) and led the team with five ground balls, while Jack Levitt added a 3-for-5 (60 percent) mark and two ground balls. Adam Hall made 14 saves for the afternoon and tallied a .438 save percentage.

Chintala and Heath led the Owls offense with two goals and one assist each on the offensive end, while long stick midfielder Henry Moderelli headlined the defensive stat line with two caused turnovers.

Kenyon will look to bounce back on Saturday, March 8 at 1:00 pm, taking on No. 14 Swarthmore College from Swarthmore, Pennsylvania.
