Owls log four names on Academic All-District Team

GAMBIER, Ohio -- Reaching the maximum number of honorees, the Kenyon College men's swimming and diving team had four members named to the 2024-25 NCAA Division III College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team. The CSC released the names of all honorees Tuesday afternoon.

Kenyon swimmers who made the list included juniors Ethan Manske and Kirill Sidorko, as well as sophomores Roman Savage and Noel Tumbasz. All four honorees were a part of a 2024-25 Kenyon team that placed second at the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) Championship and placed fifth at the NCAA Division III Championship. All four earned all-conference honors this season and qualified for, and participated in, the national championship meet.

To be eligible for the Academic All-District honor, a student-athlete had to be a key contributor who competed in at least five meets throughout the season or had a top-eight finish at a conference meet. The student-athlete had to be on the team's active roster for at least two years and had to possess a minimum 3.50 cumulative grade point average. Each institution was allotted a maximum of four nominations.

Of the four, Manske is Kenyon's lone two-time winner of the Academic All-District honor. In the classroom, he double majors in environmental studies and Japanese. He'll soon be a two-time member of the NCAC Academic Honor Roll and a three-time College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Scholar All-American. In the water, Manske racked up four top-15 event finishes at the NCAA Championship, running his career total to 10 All-America awards. His top finish at this year's national meet was a seventh-place showing in the 400-yard individual medley.

Kenyon's other junior recognized by the CSC was Sidorko, who transferred in this year and made a big impact, especially at the NCAA Championship. He swam in five NCAA events, placed 10th or better in each one and registered a title-winning swim in the 400-yard individual medley, the Owls' lone event title of the meet. In the classroom, Sidorko turns his attention to his major of economics.

Savage is a distance and butterfly swimmer for the Owls. Prior to the NCAA meet, he won the conference title in the 100-yard butterfly. In the same event, at the NCAA Championship, he placed ninth. He also logged a fifth-place and two ninth-place finishes in relay events, giving him four All-America honors. He has not yet narrowed down his studies to a specific major.

Tumbasz, who also has not yet declared a major, is a breaststroke specialist and a two-time NCAA qualifier. At this year's championship meet, he gained one All-America award for his 15th-place finish in the 200-yard breaststroke and two more All-America awards for top-10 finishes with Kenyon's medley relay teams.

Both Savage and Tumbasz will soon be two-time CSCAA Scholar All-Americans, as well as first-timers on the NCAC Academic Honor Roll.

Due to their significant success both in the pool and in their studies, all four Kenyon award winners will move on to the national ballot for CSC Academic All-America consideration.
