Five players, coach haul in All-NCAC honors

CLEVELAND -- Five Kenyon College student-athletes were selected to the 2025 All-North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) Men's Tennis Team. The conference office made the announcement Thursday and added that the Owls' coach, Andrew Carlson, was voted the NCAC Coach of the Year.

Three of Kenyon's all-conference selections made the list both as a single player and as a doubles player. That trio included Paulo Pocasangre Kreling, Alejandro Gonzalez, and Rishil Kondapaneni. Juozas Cioladis made the team as a singles player and Eric Zhang was included for his doubles play.

Both Pocasangre Kreling and Gonzalez earned All-NCAC First Team honors for singles and doubles. Kondapaneni was named to the Second Team for singles and the Third Team for doubles, while Cioladis was a Third Team singles selection and Zhang was a Third Team doubles pick.

Pocasangre Kreling is the team's No. 1 player and currently nationally ranked at No. 16. He has a 19-7 singles record, including a 16-3 mark playing at No. 1 singles. In doubles play, the Kenyon junior teams with Gonzalez and that duo has a team-best 15-8 record. Pocasangre Kreling is now a three-time All-NCAC selection in both singles and double play.

Gonzalez, a sophomore who owns the No. 2 spot in the Owls' lineup, sports a team-best 20-6 singles record, which includes a stellar 14-2 mark in dual play at No. 2. He's played three matches at No. 1 and won all three. He is 15-8 playing with Pocasangre Kreling as a doubles partner, and is 17-10 overall in doubles play this season.

Kondapaneni, a senior, is now a six-time All-NCAC pick (four times for singles and twice for doubles). This season, he's played mainly in the No. 3 singles spot and produced a 9-2 record from there. He also played a little bit at No. 2 and has an overall singles record of 14-6. In doubles, he's been paired with five different partners and owns a 13-12 record.

Cioladis, a first-year, earned his first All-NCAC award by going 18-7 in singles play. The majority of his matches were played at the No. 4 spot, where he was 7-6, but outside of that spot he was a perfect 7-0 in dual matches.

Zhang, a senior, completed the cycle for doubles play, claiming his fourth career all-conference certificate. He, like Kondapaneni, had five different doubles partners this season. Despite all the changes, he managed to post a 15-9 record, bringing his career doubles mark to 52-42.

Carlson's Coach of the Year award was his first for his work with the Kenyon men's team. In 2023, he earned the NCAC Coach of the Year for his work with the women's team.

Carlson has led the Owls to a near-perfect 6-1 mark in NCAC play and a 18-5 overall record. His team soared up the national rankings, climbing from No. 20 in the preseason to No. 7 in the spring, the program's first top-10 national ranking since 2015. Highlighting the rise, Carlson coached the Owls to six victories over nationally-ranked opponents. Additionally, under his watch, the 2025 Kenyon team was NCAC regular-season and tournament runner-up, and will participate in the upcoming NCAA Division III Championship Tournament.
