Owls improve eight spots in final Learfield standings

CLEVELAND -- The National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) released Tuesday the final standings for the 2024-25 Learfield Directors' Cup and the Kenyon College Department of Athletics, Fitness and Recreation placed 43rd among the 323 NCAA Division III institutions that earned points in the standings.

Kenyon's final score was 414.25 points. Among all institutions in the North Coast Athletic Conference, only Denison University (666.00) finished better than Kenyon. At the top of the standings, Emory University (1,198.75) won the Cup, halting Johns Hopkins University's two-year run.

Kenyon's point total from the 2024-25 campaign included six appearances in NCAA Championships, spanning all three sports seasons.

In the fall, Kenyon men's soccer team earned 64 points for making it to the third round of the national tournament. In the winter sports season, the men's swimming and diving team tallied  75 points for placing fifth at the national championship, while the women's swimming and diving team gained 85 points for claiming third place at the NCAA meet. Finally, in the spring season, the men's golf team earned 62.25 points after a tie for 13th place at the NCAA Championship. Both men's and women's tennis teams chipped in another 64 points for their second-round showings in national postseason play.

Kenyon's final 2024-25 point total and standing were both improvements over last year, when the Owls slotted into 51st place with 359.75 points. Two years ago, during the 2022-23 campaign, Kenyon placed 43rd with 426.00 points.

The Learfield Directors' Cup is a program that began in the 1993-94 academic year and honors institutions that maintain a broad-based program while achieving success in many sports, both men's and women's. Overall, 18 sports are counted in the final NCAA DIII standings.
