Kenyon battles rain in Richmond

RICHMOND, Ind. -- The Kenyon College men's golf team sent five individuals to participate in The Indy at Forest Hills hosted by Miami (OH) University. The Owls battled heavy rain throughout the day, as well as winds.

Nathan Jewell finished in a tie for 16th position ahead of many NCAA Division I opponents, as he shot 72 (+2) and 75 (+5) in tough conditions. Jewell picked up three birdies in his first round, while adding a fourth to cap off a 36-hole day. Jack Zeiger ended up tied with Jewell in that 16th slot, also finishing at seven-over-par. Zeiger struggled early, shooting 76 (+6) in round one. He quickly picked up strokes on the field in round two by taking advantage with an eagle to go two-under through two holes.

Craig Wardlaw III took a solo 28th place, providing a 13-over-par finish after a 77-75 split on the par-70 track. Following Wardlaw were Oliver McGovern and Robbie Lifson each finishing at 20-over par and tying for 36th position in the tournament.

The Owls No. 2-ranked squad is back in action at the Wabash College Invitational on October 5 at Broadmoor Country Club in Indianapolis.
