Kenyon great Tim Appleton set for Pittsburgh Hall of Fame honor

GAMBIER, Ohio – Kenyon College Hall of Famer Tim Appleton '77 has officially been named a member of the Pittsburgh Basketball Club Hall of Fame as part of the Class of 2025. The induction ceremony will take place during the organization's annual Hall of Fame Brunch on March 8 at Montour Country Club.

Appleton remains one of the most prolific scorers in Kenyon men's basketball history. Upon graduating in 1977, he stood as one of only three players to eclipse the 2,000-point milestone for his career. During his senior campaign, Appleton averaged 24.1 points per game, a mark that ranked 15th nationally and positioned him among the elite scorers in NCAA Division III basketball.

His dominance was recognition at the conference and national levels. Appleton earned All-America honors and was a three-time first-team All-Ohio Athletic Conference selection. In 1977, he further distinguished himself as a first-team Academic All-American, showcasing his commitment to success both on the court and in the classroom.

Following his time at Kenyon, Appleton was selected by the Detroit Pistons with the 14th pick in the eighth round of the 1978 NBA Draft. While he did not appear in an NBA game, the draft selection served as a testament to the impact he made at the collegiate level.
