Owls sweep Bishops and Blue Streaks to start conference play

DELAWARE, Ohio and GAMBIER, Ohio – For the second time in as many days, the Kenyon College women's tennis team faced off in a doubleheader, today taking on Ohio Wesleyan University on the road in the morning before coming back to Gambier to play John Carroll University in the team's first North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) action of the season.

The Owls had a great showing in both matches, taking care of business with 7-0 sweeps of the Bishops and the Blue Streaks to earn the team's fourth straight win to start the season.

In the team's first match of the day against Ohio Wesleyan on the road, the Owls made quick work in the doubles portion of the day, only conceding two games. In the No. 1 slate, Shadia Amado Aguad and Kiara Komlodi teamed up to take down the Bishops' first duo 6-0.

Bridgette Kelly and Maya Stolarsky took on the No. 2 slate in the first match, which they dispatched with ease 6-1. Finally, Elizabeth Ackermann and Madeline Chappars completed the sweep with a 6-1 win in the No. 3 slate to give Kenyon the early point.

More of the same came in singles, where the Owls won all matches in two sets. Kelly, Stolarksy and Amado Aguad each blanked their opponents 6-0, 6-0. Kelly's win came in the No. 6 spot, while Amado Aguad took control in the No. 2 slate and Stolarsky made quick work of her opponent in the No. 3 match.

Komlodi faced off against Ohio Wesleyan's top woman in the No. 1 flight, where the first year took home the victory 6-0, 6-2. Finally, in the fifth flight, Chappars won the first set 6-1 before battling to a 6-4 win in the second to complete the 7-0 sweep for the team's first NCAC victory of 2026.

Heading back to the Jasper Tennis Center in Gambier shortly after, the Owls continued their hot streak against the Blue Streaks, who are new to the NCAC for this season.

In doubles, the No. 3 pair of Clare Hudson and Stolarsky teamed up for a 6-0 victory before Amado Aguad and Komlodi joined forces for another 6-0 shutout. Eleni Lazaridou and Hana Nouaime earned a 6-1 win in the No. 1 flight to give the Owls their first point.

Lazaridou made quick work of her opponent in the No. 1 flight, earning a 6-0, 6-0 win in just 40 minutes. Five minutes later, Komlodi took care of business in the No. 2 match with a 6-1, 6-2 winner. Amado Aguad secured the win for the Owls shortly after, taking home a 6-2, 6-1 win in the No. 3 flight.

Stolarsky was next to finish in the sixth flight, where she sent her opponent packing with a 6-1, 6-2 win. In the fifth flight, Hudson got the job done in 52 minutes with a 6-2, 6-0 victory. Nouaime's match was the only one to go to a third set, but she secured the 7-0 sweep by rallying back in the final two sets.

The Owls will have an excellent test upcoming, where the team will take on No. 1-ranked Washington University in St. Louis on Sunday, February 15 at 9:00 a.m. from a neutral site in Greencastle, Indiana.
