Owls end spring-break run with another win

COCOA BEACH, Fla. -- The No. 17-ranked Kenyon College women's tennis team rolled to a 7-0 win against Sweet Briar College on Wednesday during neutral-site play at the Racquet Club Of Cocoa Beach. The win was the team's fourth in a row and capped its spring break record at 4-1.

The Owls, now 8-2 overall, went with a lineup that was not its usual. Kiara Komlodi remained around the top of the order, but most of the Kenyon reserves filled in the other spots. Komoldi cruised at No. 1 singles, posting a 6-0, 6-1 win against Alex Guilarte. Prior to that, she paired with Maggie Shope to ring up a 6-2 win against Guilarte and Lucia Bovard.

Kenyon's two other doubles pairings were Sophia Carling and Maya Stolarsky at No. 2 and Elizabeth Ackermann and Madeline Chappars at No. 3. Those two teams turned in wins of 6-4 and 6-0, respectively.

Following Komlodi down the singles slate, Stolarsky won at No. 2 by scores of 6-1, 6-2, while Ackermann took the No. 3 match by a 6-0, 6-2 count. Carling added a win by retirement at No. 4

The final two matches went to Shope at No. 5 and Chappars at No. 6. Shope posted a winning score of 6-1, 6-0, while Chappars blanked her opponent, 6-0, 6-0.

The Owls will now head back to campus and start preparations for their next competition, a neutral-site match against Whitman College that will take place at Christopher Newport University.
