No. 17 Owls cruise past No. 32 Whitman

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – The No. 17 Kenyon College women's tennis team extended its winning streak to five matches on Friday, defeating No. 32 Whitman College, 6-1, in a neutral-site contest at the campus of Christopher Newport University. With the win, the Owls improved to 9-2 on the season, while the Blues fell to 10-5.

Kenyon seized early momentum in doubles play, claiming the opening point with wins on courts No. 2 and No. 3. Shadia Amado Aguad and Kiara Komlodi delivered a strong performance at No.2, defeating Sascha Wells and Gloria Lau by a score of 6-4. The Owls secured the doubles point at No. 3, where Bridgette Kelly and Clare Hudson outlasted Bailey Bell and Julia Longpre, 7-5. Whitman's lone doubles victory came at No. 1, as Renata Rosell and Nana Vang edged Eleni Lazaridou and Hana Nouaime, 7-5.

Carrying a 1-0 lead into singles, the Owls controlled the match across the lineup, winning five of six courts. Lazaridou led the way at No. 1 singles with a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Nana Vang, while Komlodi followed with a dominant 6-0, 7-5 win against Renata Rosell at No. 2. Nouaime added another point at No. 3, earning a 6-1, 6-1 win over Sascha Wells, and Amado Aguad secured a 6-3, 6-1 decision over Leah Julia Longpre at No. 4. Kelly rounded out Kenyon's singles wins at No. 6 with a 6-1, 6-1 victory against Leah Lovato. Whitman's only point came at No. 5 singles, where Gloria Lau defeated Elizabeth Ackermann in a three-set match, 1-6, 7-6 (13-11), 1-0 (11-9).

Up next, the Owls face a quick 24-hour turnaround as they prepare for another neutral-site matchup against No.13 Johns Hopkins University at Christopher Newport University. First serve is set for 2 p.m.
