Kenyon beats RPI for second straight ranked sweep

ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla. – The Kenyon College women's tennis team played in the fourth game of its five-game stretch against ranked opponents on Friday afternoon, taking on No. 28 Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) in a neutral site tilt.

The Owls took control from the opening match, only losing once in doubles en route to a 7-0 sweep of the Engineers.

Kiara Komlodi and Shadia Amado Aguad got the party started with a 6-3 victory in the No. 2 doubles flight. Although Bridgette Kelly and Clare Hudson came up just short in the No. 3 flight, falling 4-6, the team of Eleni Lazaridou and Hana Nouaime got the job done in the No. 1 flight, coming away with the 7-5 winner to secure the opening point.

Nouaime had the team's best finish in singles, winning 6-2, 6-0 in the third flight. Two 6-2, 6-2 finishes secured the victory for Kenyon, as Komlodi in the second flight and Kelly in the No. 6 spot each won their matches.

Over in the No. 1 flight, Lazaridou battled to a 6-4 winner in the first set before cruising to a 6-2 victory in the second to take the match, while Maya Stolarsky got in the mix with a 6-2, 6-3 winner in the fifth singles flight. To secure the sweep, Amado Aguad grinded out a 7-5 victory in the first set of the fourth flight before taking home a 6-3 win in the second to close the match.

The Owls' record improves to 6-2 on the season. Up next, Kenyon will face off against No. 20-ranked Gustavus Adolphus College on Saturday, March 7 at 12:30 p.m. from Orlando.
