Zinser elevated to head coach of Owls volleyball

GAMBIER, Ohio – The Kenyon College Department of Athletics, Fitness and Recreation has announced that Macey Zinser has been named the head coach of the Owls' volleyball program. Zinser, who served as the team's interim head coach during the spring semester, will officially assume the role full-time beginning May 1.

Zinser becomes Kenyon's 19th head coach as the program prepares to enter its 54th season of competition.

"Being appointed interim head coach during the spring season was an incredible opportunity, and I am even more excited to step into this role moving forward," Zinser said. "Becoming a collegiate head coach has always been a dream of mine, and I am truly grateful to have the opportunity to lead the program at Kenyon College. It has been a privilege to work with our team this semester as we focused on refining our skills and growing both physically and mentally. I am extremely excited for the upcoming fall season, as we have a dedicated group of student-athletes who are committed to continuing to build and strengthen the culture of Kenyon Volleyball."

During the spring semester, Zinser quickly made an impact leading the program through a productive slate of offseason practices. She rallied the team for consistent training sessions that included drill work, game-like scenarios, and conditioning designed to prepare the Owls for the upcoming season. Zinser also welcomed eight incoming first-year student-athletes to campus for a spring visit.

Zinser comes to Gambier following a highly successful stint as a graduate assistant coach at Mount Vernon Nazarene University (MVNU), where she played an integral role in one of the most accomplished stretches in program history. During the 2024 season, the Cougars posted a 31-5 record and advanced to the NAIA National Tournament Sweet 16 for the first time ever. In 2025, MVNU followed with a 27-9 campaign, another Sweet 16 appearance, and a No. 10 final national rank.

Prior to her time in Mount Vernon, Zinser gained experience at her alma mater, Lourdes University, serving as a volunteer assistant coach for the men's volleyball program during the spring of 2024. She worked as a content creator for Lourdes' men's and women's volleyball teams too, managing social media and producing game-day and promotional content across multiple platforms.

Zinser's coaching background also includes club volleyball, serving as a head coach at Athlete Headquarters, where she directed both 14- and 18-year-old teams while assisting athletes through the collegiate recruiting process.

A former five-year student-athlete at Lourdes, Zinser earned her bachelor's degree in sports management before completing a master's degree in organizational management at MVNU in March 2025.
