Nee named to All-NCAC Third Team

CLEVELAND – After pacing the Owls in several offensive categories and providing a consistent presence at the hot corner, Kenyon College junior Tyler Nee earned All-North Coast Athletic Conference Third Team honors.

The annual All-NCAC Baseball Team was released following a vote by the league's coaches, with Nee serving as Kenyon's lone representative. The Charlotte, North Carolina, native was one of two third basemen selected to the Third Team after the conference listed him with 51 hits, 18 RBIs, and a .383 batting average during the regular season.

Nee built his all-conference case with a season-long surge that made him one of the Owls' most dangerous offensive pieces. He started all 36 games he played and sat atop KC's stat sheet in nearly every major offensive category, leading the team in batting average, runs scored, hits, doubles, triples, total bases, slugging percentage, on-base percentage, and stolen bases.

At the plate, Nee finished with a .383 batting average, 51 hits, 35 runs, 10 doubles, three triples, one home run, and 18 RBIs. His .383 mark ranked 12th overall among NCAC hitters.   He also piled up 70 total bases while producing a .526 slugging percentage and a .494 on-base percentage. His ability to reach base came in several ways, as he drew 18 walks, was hit by 13 pitches, and struck out just 15 times across 133 at-bats.

Once on base, Nee gave opposing teams another problem to solve. The junior swiped 23 bags in 30 attempts, pacing a Kenyon squad that totaled 68 stolen bases on the season. His 23 steals were the most on the team by a wide margin, while his 35 runs scored also led the Owls.

Nee also handled a heavy workload at third base, where he finished with 130 total chances, 33 putouts, 88 assists, and helped turn six double plays. His 88 assists ranked second on the team, highlighting the amount of action he saw at the hot corner throughout the season
