GAMBIER, Ohio -- The Kenyon College volleyball team took on the undefeated Otterbein University volleyball team in a four set match in Tomsich Arena. After jumping out to a one set lead, the Cardinals dropped set two before winning the final to sets to propel them to victory.
Olivia Gumz led the match in kills, playing in all four sets she picked up a total of 14 kills hitting .225 while recording two digs. Gumz led the Owls with two service aces, while teammates Hannah Schwemm, Abby Jackson and Makena Rodriguez tacked on one apiece from the service line. Christiana Paul continued on a successful year picking up a career high six kills against a talented Cardinal squad. Her .357 hitting percentage in the match was the highest between both teams. Aiding the offensive attack, senior setter Hannah Schwemm provided five kills with 22 assists in addition.Â
Defensively, Kenyon was anchored by Eva LeRoux who recorded a total of eight digs without a single reception error. Fellow Owls Jordan Deane and Arianna Flota added on six and five digs of their own. On the net first-year Giada Spisak recorded a total of two solo blocks, totaling 14 total blocks on the year.
The Owls next match continues a run of home games in Gambier. They play in a tri-match on September 19, 12:00 PM against Geneva College and again at 4:00 PM against the University of Pittsburgh-Greensburg.  Â
