Owls sweep tri-match at home

GAMBIER, Ohio – The Kenyon College women's volleyball team picked up two wins on Saturday. They swept a talented Geneva College Golden Tornado squad in their first match. While in their second match they continued their momentum beating the University of Pittsburgh-Greensburg in straight sets. 

Against Geneva, Sophia Menke put up a gem from the middle hitter spot picking up a total of nine kills while hitting .467 in the match. Abby Stenger contributed in a big way to the Kenyon offensive attack adding eight kills of her own, hitting .400. Hannah Schwemm anchored the offense adding six kills on nine attempts (.667), tossing up 26 assists through all three sets for the Owls. 

The defensive effort against Geneva was impressive as the Owls picked up eight block assists with half belonging to Giada Spisak. Makena Rodriguez played a nearly flawless match totaling four service aces along with seven digs. 

Match two for the Owls contained more dominance with Menke adding nine more kills hitting .538 against Pitt-Greensburg. Stenger and Kendall Kirkbride added eight and seven kills with Bryn Carrigan posting five more in the sweep. On the serve Makena Rodriguez brought her daily total up to nine service aces with five more against Pitt-Greensburg. 

Kenyon's next match will begin a three game road trip September 23, at 7:00 PM against Capital University.
