Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Strong Kenyon offense blows by Panthers

GAMBIER, OHIO - The Kenyon College men's soccer team delivered another outstanding offensive performance as it won its third consecutive game to start the season, beating the Panthers of Hanover College, 3-0.

Sophomore forward, Danny Kankam, had a standout game with one goal and two assists. He opened the scoring floodgates for the Owls just 12:35 into the first half. Kevin Farina sent a long ball up the field from the backline toward left forward Robert Little. Using a burst of speed, Little crossed the ball into the box where Lucas de Alarcon flicked the ball over the Panthers' defense towards the back post. Kankam was able to bring the ball down and elude five Panther defenders for a slotted finish, putting the Owls up, 1-0.

Not even three minutes later, the Owls were on the attack again. This time, Luca Bilotto went down just outside of the box and was granted a free kick. The ball hit the wall and bounced back out to a patiently waiting Kankam, who took advantage of the deep Panthers defensive line and sent the ball over the top toward the back post. Farina, able to get a touch on it, directed it centrally for a powerful first-time volley finish by Grant Blake at the 15:00 minute mark.

The Owls' offense wasn't finished yet. de Alarcon would get to tally one more and final goal to the Kenyon score during the 20th minute of the first half. A Panthers midfield turnover at the half-line would create the perfect opportunity for Blake to switch the field to right defender Yeochan Yang. Yang played into space for Kankam who used his speed to get past the Panthers' defense and slot the ball across the six-yard box. Andrew Adams deflected the ball towards the back post for de Alarcon's finish, sending the Owls up 3-0 at 20:23.

Within the first half alone, Kenyon put six shots on goal compared to Hanover's zero and forced the Panthers' goalie to make three saves. The Owls defense, including sophomore goalkeeper Matt Kayser, recorded its second straight shutout.

Prior to this results, Hanover, which finished the 2025 season with a 14-4-3 record, tied No. 21-ranked Denison University, 0-0, on Saturday evening.

Kenyon ended up out-shooting the Panthers, 14-1,  and improved to 3-0. The Owls will be back in action at home on Friday, September 11th against Pomona-Pitzer.
