GAMBIER, Ohio – The Kenyon College women's soccer team celebrated its six senior members Saturday afternoon at Mavec Field. However, visiting Allegheny College crashed the party with an overtime goal for a 1-0 victory that sullied the occasion.
After spending most of the second half on their heels, the Gators (7-7-1, 2-3-0 North Coast Athletic Conference) were the aggressors in overtime. Allegheny owned all four of the shot attempts in bonus time and celebrated the game-winner when Michelle Holcomb headed home Lauren Miller's corner kick just shy of the 98th minute.
It was a disappointing ending for the Ladies (6-6-1, 2-2-1 NCAC), who dominated play in regulation. Kenyon built a 20-5 shot advantage over the first two periods, including a 12-3 edge in the second half alone, but couldn't find the goal. Kylie Mason made six saves for the Gators to hold the Ladies at bay.
Kenyon will get one more chance to give seniors
