Box Score PITTSBURGH, Pa. – The Carnegie Mellon University Tartans used a trio of second-half goals Saturday to defeat the Kenyon College Ladies, 3-0. The loss, Kenyon's third in its last four games, drops the Ladies' overall record to 2-4.
Carnegie Mellon had the upper hand in shots (9-3) during first-half action, but the teams went into intermission in a scoreless draw. It wasn't until about five minutes into the second half that the tie was finally broken. Carnegie Mellon's Alex Venegas took a pass from Stephanie Hare and punted in the only goal that the Tartans would need.
Kenyon made a stronger offensive effort in the second half, but it could not solve Tartans goalkeeper Anna Albi, who played a little more than 80 minutes and registered five saves.
Meanwhile, Carnegie Mellon, which now sports a 4-0-2 record, did not let up. Lucy Havens doubled the Tartans lead at the 64:18 mark and Savina Reid added an insurance goal with less than three minutes left in the contest.
