Fighting Scots slip past Ladies, 1-0, in soggy NCAC opener

Box Score GAMBIER, Ohio – Rain wasn't the only thing that dampened the Kenyon College women's soccer team's North Coast Athletic Conference opener Tuesday afternoon. The College of Wooster's goal in the 66th minute dealt the Ladies a 1-0 defeat that snapped their modest two-game winning streak.

The soggy Mavec Field turf slowed the pace of play enough that scoring opportunities on both sides were limited. Kenyon and the Fighting Scots each logged nine shots for the game, but only Wooster was able to direct a shot on-target.

The Scots (6-4-1, 1-0-0 NCAC) broke through when Lily Mohre forced goalie Lauren Wolfe to leave her feet for a spectacular leaping save. However, Wolfe's one-handed deflection bounced right to Katherine Tuttle, who tapped it in for the win.

Kenyon (4-5-0, 0-1-0 NCAC) will try again for its first conference victory Saturday at DePauw University.
