GAMBIER, Ohio – The top two field hockey teams in the North Coast Athletic Conference standing squared off Saturday on McBride Field. Visiting DePauw University used a big second half to notch a 5-1 victory, its eighth-straight, and deny Kenyon College's bid to move into a first-place tie.

The Tigers got on the scoreboard first in the 10th minute, but the Ladies (6-4, 5-2 NCAC) answered in the 26th minute when sophomore Cecilia Depman punched an assist from freshman Maddie Breschi into the back of the cage. Depman's fifth goal of the season tied her for the best total on the team while Breschi's fourth helper made her Kenyon's assist leader.

DePauw (9-1, 7-0 NCAC) was able to creep back out into the lead before halftime with its second score at the 32:30 mark. When the second half began, the Tigers scored three times in the first 11 minutes to put the game in hand. Bridgett Shamleffer scored two of the momentum-swinging goals with Margaret Ellis providing the third. Ellis also registered two assists in the contest.

The Ladies will continue their three-game homestand Friday afternoon against Earlham College at 4:30 p.m. Kenyon topped the Quakers, 5-0, in the first meeting of the season.
