GAMBIER, Ohio – Sophomore center John Bray scored a career-high 19 points Wednesday night and the Kenyon College men's basketball team preserved a 67-56 conference win over Oberlin College by making all the right plays down the stretch.

In front by just one point (54-53) with 2:52 remaining in the game, the Lords (8-8, 2-5 NCAC) did not panic. Once leading by as many as nine points, Kenyon kept its composure and watched sophomore Jonathan Amador drill an important three-pointer that increased the lead to four.

When Oberlin (4-11, 2-4 NCAC) took the ball the other way, a missed three-pointer was corralled by Kenyon junior Ikenna Nwadibia  who finished the contest with seven rebounds and a game-high 23 points. Following his rebound, Nwadibia delivered a three-point play at the other end of the court, pushing Kenyon ahead 60-53. The Lords went on to close out those final three minutes of play on a 13-3 run.

Bray, whose previous career-best was 14 points, scored his 19 on 9-of-14 shooting from the floor and 1-of-2 shooting at the free throw line. He also notched a game-high nine rebounds as the Lords won the battle of the backboards, 39-32.

The Kenyon defense also did its part, holding Oberlin to just four offensive rebounds and seven second-chance points. Additionally, the Lords came up with seven steals and forced the Yeomen into 13 turnovers.
