CLEVELAND, Ohio – Kenyon College senior Ikenna Nwadibia hit the game-tying bucket with 5.8 seconds left in regulation of Saturday night's basketball game. That helped the Lords erase a nine-point deficit and force overtime, but host Case Western Reserve University prevailed in the extra session and claimed a 92-89 victory in the championship game of the Stephanie Tubbs Jones Memorial Tournament.

Kenyon (1-1) trailed 61-52 at the midway point of the second half and 77-70 with 3:24 left in the game. Nwadibia then delivered three consecutive layups to get the Lords within one point. Case's Julien Person responded with a jumper, but Nwadibia notched another layup with 24 seconds left to make the score 79-78 in favor of Case.

The Spartans (2-0) drew a foul on their next possession, but Jimmy Holman only got one of the two free throws. Kenyon then took the ball up the floor and called a timeout with 14 seconds left. When play resumed, the Lords got the ball in the hands of Nwadibia, who was on the left wing. He dribbled toward the top of the key, turned his back to the basket, and spun around a defender. He then drove the left side, split two more defenders and laid in the tying deuce.

The Kenyon momentum spilled into overtime and the Lords went ahead by scores of 85-82 with 3:37 left and 87-84 with 1:26 left. Case then got a three-pointer from Tim Chung and the score went back and forth for the next minute. With 19 seconds left, Person connected on a baseline reverse layup that gave Case the lead for good. Kenyon executed a perfect inbounds play with five seconds left, but a baseline jumper from Brian Lebowitz was a bit too strong and the Spartans grabbed the rebound.

Nwadibia, who finished with game-highs of 26 points and 11 rebounds, was named to the All-Tournament team. Lebowitz narrowly missed matching Nwadibia's double-double, as he racked up 13 points and nine rebounds. Julian Pavlin added 19 points and Jonathan Amador chipped in with a dozen.

Kenyon shot 50 percent from the floor (33-of-66), but if there was a weak spot it was the team's free throw shooting. The Lords were just 57.6 percent (19-of-33) at the stripe. Case, on the other hand, was 78.1 percent (25-of-32) at the line. The Spartans ended up getting 22 points from Dane McLoughlin and 20 points from Person.
