SAINT PETER, Minn. –  The No. 2-ranked Kenyon College men's tennis team rolled through singles play to overtake the No. 11-ranked California Lutheran University Kingsmen in Saturday evening's 2013 ITA Indoor Championship semifinal match. After trailing 2-1 following the conclusion of doubles play, Kenyon saw Michael Razumovsky and C.J. Williams clinch their singles matches at nearly the same moment. That led to a 6-3 Kenyon team win and a spot in Sunday's championship match against Emory University. Last season, Kenyon and Emory met in the NCAA Division III Championship match, one that Emory won 5-3.

Williams and Razumovsky both went three sets with their opponents and pulled off wins in a string of Kenyon singles successes. Williams improved his season record to 9-2 in singles play with a 6-4, 4-6, 6-3 victory over Connor Treacy. Meanwhile, Razumovsky was cleaning up the second and third sets with a 4-6, 6-2, 6-4 triumph in the second flight over Ray Worley IV. With their wins, the Lords took a 5-3 advantage to clinch the team's victory.

Kenyon took five of six singles flights against the Kingsmen, recording all of its victories consecutively. Also earning individual victories for the Lords were Wade Heerboth, Tim Rosensteel, and Kevin Ye.

In doubles competition, the tandem of Heerboth and Ye marked Kenyon's only paired win, an 8-5 decision over Thomas Millet and Marcelo Sousa. The Kenyon duo is now 4-0 this season.

The team win improves the Lords' record to 4-1 and avenges last year's 5-4 upset pulled off by Cal Lutheran. Kenyon will try to avenge another 2012 loss tomorrow with a 9:00 a.m. CST start against Emory.
