CRAWFORDSVILLE, Ind. – In a basketball game that lacked any kind of offensive flow, the Wabash College Little Giants used a steady stream of free throws to defeat the Kenyon College Lords, 58-45, Saturday at Chadwick Court. The loss for the Lords stopped their win streak at a season-high four games.

Nearly half of Wabash's 58 points were scored at the free throw line, where the Little Giants went 28-of-36 overall. In the second half alone, Wabash netted just four field goals, but was 16-of-20 at the line. While the home team all but set up camp at the stripe, Kenyon sank six freebies in just ten attempts for the entire game.

The physical, choppy nature of the game did not deter Kenyon junior Ikenna Nwadibia from posting his fourth consecutive double-double. The 6-2 slasher posted team-highs of 18 points and 12 rebounds. His rebound total marked the sixth straight game he's led the Lords in that department.

Fellow Kenyon juniors Julian Pavlin and Brian Lebowitz did what they could to support Nwadibia, but points were terribly difficult to come by. Pavlin ended up scoring seven, while Lebowitz chalked up six points to go along with eight rebounds.

Wabash had just one double-digit scorer, too. Ross Sponsler went a perfect 12-of-12 at the line and finished with a game-high 19 points. Nine other Little Giants scored, but none had more than nine points.

Kenyon, which blew out Wabash 72-55 three weeks ago in Gambier, opened up Saturday's game with a 12-4 lead during the first eight minutes of play. The Little Giants then stormed back to tie the game at 12-12 and, over the last eight minutes of the first half, they outscored Kenyon 22-7. Ten of those 22 Wabash points came at the free throw line and 11 were scored by Sponsler.

In the second half, Wabash moved ahead by as many as 16 points. Kenyon did trim its deficit to three at the 9:21 mark (37-34), but Wabash answered with six free throws and a field goal to increase its advantage to 11.

With two games left in the regular season, the Lords now own a 13-10 overall record and 7-7 mark in the North Coast Athletic Conference.  The win bumped Wabash to 8-15 overall and 6-8 in the conference.
