FORT MYERS, Fla. – The Kenyon College baseball team spotted the Olivet College Comets five runs, the most scored against the Lords this season, but then came roaring back with a seven-run fifth inning that eventually lead to a 15-11 Kenyon victory in Monday's wild affair that saw 11 different pitchers take the mound.

Kenyon (8-2), winners of four straight, got off to a bit of a rocky start. Starting pitcher Tim Krahn did not have his best stuff and Olivet got to him for five runs over the first three innings. While that deficit seemed, at the time, like a lot to overcome, the Kenyon offense took care of business in just two innings.

In the fourth, Jesse Weiss ripped a double down the leftfield line and later came around to score on a sacrifice fly hit by Kyle Hardacker. One inning later, the Lords offense erupted for seven runs on six hits and two walks. The big hits in that rampage came from Nate Lotze and Hardacker. Lotze stroked a two-run single through the right side and was immediately followed by a two-run triple from Hardacker. Weiss and Sam Gillespie also had run-scoring hits in the inning.

Freshman Matt Delbridge relieved Krahn in the fourth inning and went on to pitch three frames. He yielded just two runs on five hits. He walked one, struck out two, and picked up his first collegiate win. Following Delbridge, Kenyon also trotted out Paul Henshaw, Ben Steiner, and Alex Kendall. Those three relievers combined for three innings of work and just one earned run on three hits and two walks.

With Kenyon up 8-5, Olivet put two more on the scoreboard in the bottom of the sixth inning. That made it a one-run game, but not for long. Kenyon used an RBI double from Zach Karson and an RBI single from Adam Dunn to put together a three-run seventh inning and  an 11-7 advantage.

The Lords scored once more in the top of the eighth, but Olivet (3-1) would not go away. The Comets capitalized on two Kenyon errors in the bottom of the inning and posted three unearned runs to put the score at 12-10 in favor of the Lords.

Weiss and Jake Dunn added a couple more run-scoring hits in the ninth, highlighting another three-run frame for Kenyon. Olivet still refused to die. The Comets loaded up the based in the bottom of the ninth, but ended up getting just one run.

When the dust settled, Weiss' stat line read three hits in four at-bats with three runs scored and two RBI. Hardacker also had three hits to go along with a run and five RBI. He now leads the team with a .417 batting average and has 13 RBI in his last four games alone. Karson, hitting out of the ninth spot, also had three hits and scored three runs. Lotze and Gillespie both had two hits and two runs scored.
