Lords roll past Point Loma Nazarene in 8-1 victory

SAN DIEGO, Calif.  – Kenyon Men's Tennis cruised to an 8-1 win over Point Loma Nazarene University on Tuesday night. Three Lords players took in a pair of wins in singles and doubles play, aiding in the team's eighth win of the season.

Kenyon (8-2) swept through doubles play with a pair of 8-4 victories from the top doubles flight pair of CJ Williams and Sam Geier plus the combination of Kevin Ye and Wade Heerboth. Robert Turlington and Paul Burgin edged out Jakob and Bram Kevelaerts, 9-7, to take a quick 3-0 lead heading into singles play.

Despite Burgin falling in three sets to PLNU's Brooks Baldinger in No. 1 singles action, the rest of the Kenyon field took in victories to help toward the team win. The Lords closed out the night with five straight wins in singles play with Heerboth, Williams, and Ye all earning their second wins of the day win individual wins. Jacob Huber and Tim Rosensteel also took in singles wins to aid in the route.

Point Loma, a Top-50 NCAA Division II school, dropped to 5-9 on the season.

The Lords will break momentarily until the Stag/Hen Invitational held on March 15-16 in Claremont, California. The invitational will be hosted by Claremont-Mudd-Scripps.
