GAMBIER, Ohio – The cold weather forced the Kenyon College men's tennis team to play inside the Jasper Tennis Center, but the change of venue had little effect on the Lords. The Kenyon men blitzed the Franciscan University Barons, 5-0, in Saturday's second round of the NCAA Division III Tournament.

The win pushes Kenyon into the next round of tournament play. The Lords, ranked No. 2 in the nation with a 24-3 record, will host the Case Western Reserve University Spartans, who are ranked No. 14 nationally and own a 22-6 record. Case defeated Wilkes University, 5-0, Saturday morning to advance. Kenyon and Case will now square off Sunday at noon with a national quarterfinal spot on the line.

The Lords, who were national runners-up last season, went to work right away against Franciscan. Michael Razumovsky and C.J. Williams sprinted to an 8-0 win at No. 2 doubles, while Wade Heerboth and Kevin Ye were right on their heels with an 8-1 win at No. 3 singles. Paul Burgin and Tim Rosensteel then completed the doubles sweep with an 8-4 victory at No. 1.

Up 3-0 on the scoreboard, Kenyon needed just two wins in singles matches to advance. Those two wins came quickly, too. Burgin finished off a 6-1, 6-0 rout at No. 1 singles at almost the same time Heerboth posted a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 2 doubles.

The Kenyon victory also marks the sixth consecutive season that the Lords made it to at least the third round of the NCAA Tournament.
