GAMBIER, Ohio  – Goaltender Lauren Wolfe had a perfect day between the posts for the Kenyon College women's soccer team in the team's 1-0 win, Saturday afternoon. It complimented well with teammate Becca Romaine's second-half tally in the Ladies' victory over Case Western Reserve University. Kenyon celebrated their homecoming match with its second win of the season in large part to their contributions, coupled with a defense that held it together long enough to keep the Spartans off the board entirely.

Without the stellar performance of Kenyon's senior netminder, the Ladies might have been on the opposite end of Saturday's decision. Wolfe finished the match with eight saves, five of which came in the second half. She saw her fair share of shots against considering the Spartans outshot the Ladies 18-8. Ten of those shots were in the first half but more landed on goal in the second 45-minute session. Wolfe remained sharp by converting every save attempt while commanding the Ladies' young defensive backfield.

It comes as no surprise that the Ladies' goal scorer was none other than Becca Romaine who tallied her fourth goal of the season to lead the Ladies to victory. On a throw-in by Case, freshman Taylor Jamil forced a turnover on the near sideline. Kenyon played the ball forward immediately and found the foot of Romaine who streaked toward the Spartan net. With a 30-yard sprint, Romaine split two Case defenders and favored the far side of the cage, drawing out Spartan goaltender Abbey Smith. Once the table was set, Romaine placed an accurate strike to the opposite side of the goal from inside 15 yards for the score.

Maggie Smith was next in line after Romaine in total shots taken with three, landing one on goal. Three of Romaine's four shots also landed on net.

Kenyon (2-5-0) will return to Mavec Field next Wednesday for its final non-conference match before the start of North Coast Athletic Conference play begins on Sept. 28. Their opponent will be Otterbein College with kickoff set for 4:30 p.m. Live stats and video will be provided by the Kenyon Sports Connection.
