Friday night at McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion, the host Buckeyes rattled off 14 straight event wins en route to a 191-86 victory over the NCAA Division III Ladies.
While Ohio State was whipping up a string of wins, the Ladies looked to some veteran swimmers to pull up in runner-up spots. Junior
Mariah Williamson, a distance specialist, claimed a pair of those second-place spots for Kenyon. She did so in the 1,000-yard freestyle (10:17.23) and the 500-yard freestyle (5:00.32).
Other individual runner-up finishes for the Kenyon women came from
Katie Kaestner,
Hannah Cooper, and
Ellie Crawford. Kaestner, a junior, was second in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:04.73). Cooper, a senior, was second in the 100-yard butterfly (58.87), while Crawford, a sophomore, was runner-up in the 200-yard individual medley (2:12.83).
Ohio State only took its foot off the gas pedal in the diving competitions. Buckeye divers entered those two events as an exhibition, making some room for Kenyon junior
Maria Zarka to claim first place on both the one-meter (260.03) and three-meter (277.58) boards.
The Ladies have little time to reflect on their results. They return home to host the Ohio Northern University Polar Bears on Saturday at 10:30 a.m.
