Geboy earns NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship

GAMBIER, Ohio -- Sydney Geboy, a senior member of the Kenyon College 2024-25 women's swimming and diving team, was recently awarded an NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship. Her selection made her Kenyon's 92nd recipient, as well as the swim program's 37th recipient.

The NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship was created in 1964 to promote and encourage graduate education by rewarding the Association's most accomplished student-athletes through their participation in NCAA championship and/or emerging sports. It provides a $10,000 one-time award given to student-athletes who have excelled academically and athletically, and who plan to pursue graduate school.

Geboy, who will graduate magna cum laude this weekend after majoring in both psychology and sociology, plans to use the scholarship to help fund her enrollment in law school at Marquette University.

"Winning the NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship is an incredible honor and a deeply meaningful milestone in my journey as a student-athlete," Geboy said. "I am so grateful for the leadership and volunteer opportunities that Kenyon has offered and to all of my teammates and coaching staff for their unwavering support throughout the years."

While at Kenyon, Geboy consistently appeared on the Merit List, as well as the North Coast Athletic Conference's (NCAC) Academic Honor Roll. She was selected as Kenyon's nominee for the NCAC Pam Smith Woman of the Year Award, and she's soon to be a three-time College Swimming & Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Scholar-All-America. Additionally, Geboy was named a three-time Academic All-District, as well as a three-time Academic All-America, honoree by the College Sports Communicators (CSC).

Geboy worked as a Senior Admissions Fellow and an Orientation Leader at Kenyon. She volunteered with Knox County Head Start and, last summer, she worked as a full-time Student Research Assistant at The Ohio State University.

In the pool, Geboy was a four-time qualifier for the NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championship and was a part of Kenyon's national championship-winning teams in 2022 and 2024. A sprinter, Geboy collected 14 All-America certificates in 20 events swam during national meets. The Milwaukee, Wisconsin native excelled in relays and, this past season, steered Kenyon quads to four, top-five finishes at the NCAA Championship. In her first year at Kenyon, she was a part of Kenyon's 200-yard freestyle relay team that established the program and NCAA record.

At the conference level, Geboy was an 18-time All-NCAC swimmer and won eight career event titles at NCAC Championship meets.

Kenyon's overall total of 92 NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship recipients ranks second best among all institutions in NCAA Division III.
