FORT MYERS, Fla.  – Josh Jacobvitz went the distance in Wednesday evening's win over Olivet College, 7-5. The Lords cashed in on a trio of miscues by the Comets while Jocobvitz did it all on the hill, earning his second complete-game victory of the season.

The game, originally slated for a 4 p.m. start, was delayed by more than two hours due to another game on the same field running long followed by a Florida storm that rolled through just as the players were ready to take the field. Once play resumed, Olivet jumped on top in their first at bat, but the game went back-and-forth through all nine innings.

Olivet used a walk and a pair of base hits to plate a pair in the bottom of the first, but Kenyon responded in their next at bat. Kyle Hardacker led the inning off with a double to deep left field and came around when Nate Lotze swapped spots with him after he hit the gap in right center. A throwing error in the field allowed Lotze to tie the game up, but runs and miscues for both sides did not cease.

In the fourth, Kenyon cranked out a trio of hits, one of those by way of a bunt, to load up the bases for Lotze. The senior lofted a fly ball into right field, which plated Jake Dunn from third. Olivet catcher Andrew Dayfield came up throwing upon receiving the throw from the outfield, but launched it down the left field line allowing both additional runners to score.

Olivet tied it up in the bottom of the frame with help from three errors in the field and only one Comets hit.

Jacobvitz did his job on the mound and in the field, making great pitches and plays while fielding his position. In his second complete game of the year, the junior struck out a pair while scattering seven Comets hits over the game. Of the five runs he allowed, only two were earned.

To separate from Olivet, Kenyon scored twice in the bottom of the eighth, again using an error to help bring around the eventual scoring runs. Jono Chafe drew a leadoff walk to start the inning and Jake Dunn joined him on the bases when Comets third baseman Nikolai Jump fielded his bunt but drew the first baseman off of the bag with the throw. After advancing 90 feet following a ground out, John Nahra plated the go-ahead run by pushing a grounder to the right side. Lotze added another run with a two-out single, scoring Dunn.

While Nahra and Lotze drove home four of Kenyon's seven runs, Kyle Hardacker posted a team-high three hits on four plate appearances while scoring twice. Both Nahra and Lotze went 2-for-3 at the plate.

Kenyon (7-4) will continue its stay at the Gene Cusic Classic with a doubleheader against Lakeland College on Thursday, March 13. The twinbill will begin at 10 a.m. from the Player Development Center in Fort Myers, Florida.
