GAMBIER, Ohio – The Kenyon College women's soccer team disposed Defiance College 3-0 Thursday afternoon at Mavec Field in a non-conference match.
 
The Ladies started slow in the first half before finding their groove late.
 
In the 41st minute, Heather Pacheco delivered a highlight-reel goal as she lasered a shot from 30 yards out after a Yellow Jackets foul.
 
Kenyon extended its lead to 2-0 in the 71st minute as Maggie Smith assisted Becca Romaine who dribbled from the right corner and fired from five yards to the right corner of the net.
 
It was Romaine's fourth goal of the season and 36th of her career which moved her into sole possession of fourth place in Kenyon's record books.
 
Marie Laube tallied the final goal of the match in the 81st minute in the same fashion as Pacheco's. After a Yellow Jacket foul, Laube fired from 35 yards out and watched as the ball bounced to the back of the net.
 
Defiance's only shot on goal came in the 24th minute from Lindsay Bubnick.
 
Of the Ladies' 28 shots, 14 of them were on goal.
 
June Delgreco recorded 11 saves for the Yellow Jackets in the match.
 
Kenyon hits the road for its next game. The Ladies will visit Hanover College September 20 for a 2 p.m. match.
