GAMBIER, Ohio – Christine Bloom had a goal and an assist as the Kenyon College field hockey team defeated Wittenberg University 5-2 Saturday afternoon at McBride Field in a North Coast Athletic Conference game.

The Ladies opened up a 3-0 lead before the halftime whistle.

After a pair of back-to-back shots was saved by Wittenberg's goalie and another defender, Bloom took the third opportunity and finished to give the Ladies a 1-0 lead in the 22nd minute.

Just a minute later, Maddie Breschi scored off a penalty corner from Rachel Hall to push Kenyon's lead to 2-0.

Hall capped off the Ladies' scoring efforts in the first half with her sixth goal of the year in the 29th minute.

The Tigers got on the board in the 43rd minute as Megan Loofbourrow scored on a breakaway and fired a shot passed Ladies' keeper Sarah Speroff.

Wittenberg's first goal wouldn't faze Kenyon though as the Ladies added two more scores from Shannon Hart and Breschi in the 54th and 55th minutes, respectively.

Breschi tallied two goals in the game while Bloom, Hall and Hart each tallied a goal and an assist.

Kenyon will visit Ohio Wesleyan for its next match September 21. Start time is set for 1 p.m.
