the Ladies swimming and diving team to a 145-90 home win against Ohio Northern.  -Â

LOUISVILLE INVITE RESULTSGAMBIER, Ohio – Friday night the Kenyon College Ladies swimming and diving team split up and competed in simultaneous meets. Most of the Ladies remained home at the Steen Aquatic Center to rack up a 145-90 win over the visiting Ohio Northern University Polar Bears. The rest of the group kicked off the three-day University of Louisville Invitational by scoring 316.5 points and moving into third place.
Against Ohio Northern, the Ladies saw junior
Ellie Crawford come up with three event wins. She first joined
Haley Townsend,
Natalie Parker and Fernanda Martins to win the meet-opening 400-yard medley relay in 4:03.90. Later, she swam solo to nail down first-place finishes in the 200-yard freestyle and the 100-yard breaststroke in respective times of 1:59.77 and 1:08.44.
Townsend went on to take the 100-yard freestyle with a winning time of 53.23 and Parker went on to win the 100-yard butterfly in 59.26.
In distance events, freshman
Maddie Westover won the 1,000-yard freestyle in 10:49.26 and sophomore
Julie Dierker was quickest in the 500-yard freestyle, turning in a time of 5:17.46.
The Ladies' other event winners against Ohio Northern were
Sarah Lloyd in the 400-yard individual medley (4:41.03) and
Maria Zarka, who swept the diving competitions with 260.10 points on the one-meter board and 283.95 points on the three-meter board.
Martins, Lloyd, Dierker and
Megan Morris then closed the meet out with a winning time of 3:45.72 in the 400-yard freestyle relay.
In all, the Kenyon women won ten of the 12 swimming and diving events against the Polar Bears.
Meanwhile in Louisville, the Ladies were swimming against four NCAA Division I teams in the three-day Louisville Invitational. Friday's session included six events.
Kenyon's best finish of the night came from the 200-yard freestyle relay team of
Hannah Lobb,
Katie Kaestner,
Jenner McLeod and
Abby Wilson. They captured a third-place finish in a time of 1:34.67. Lobb, Kaestner and Wilson later teamed up with
Caitlin Foley to post a fourth-place time of 3:48.80 in the 400-yard medley relay.
Individually, Lobb and Kaestner, both seniors, earned 11th-place finishes. Lobb did so in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 24.03 and Kaestner did so in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:06.66.
In the meet-opening 500-yard freestyle, the Ladies had three swimmers place in the final heat. Freshman
Marysol Arce led the way with a fifth-place finish and a time of 4:55.90. Senior
Mariah Williamson was sixth in 4:57.26 and Wilson, a freshman, was seventh with a time of 4:57.95.
The Louisville Invitational resumes Saturday with preliminary rounds at 10 a.m. and finals at 6 p.m. The host Cardinals currently are in front of the pack with 679.5 points, while Ohio University is on second place with 397 points, just ahead of Kenyon.
