Senior Weston Carpenter earned two individual-event wins and a relay
win Saturday, as the Lords defeated Oberlin College, 120-72.

GAMBIER, Ohio and ROCHESTER, Mich. – A split Kenyon College men's swimming and diving team produced split results in home and away meets Saturday afternoon. At home, the Lords whipped up a 120-72 win over Oberlin College, while on the road, the rest of the Lords dropped a 202.5-95.5 decision to Oakland University.
Senior
Weston Carpenter set the tone in the Lords' win at home. He won both the 50-yard freestyle and the 100-yard freestyle in respective times of 21.44 and 47.70. He also swam a leg on the team's winning 200-yard medley relay team that clocked in at 1:36.67.
In the 200-yard freestyle,
Liam Moran, another senior, was quickest with a time of 1:47.86. One event before that result, Kenyon saw junior
Connor Rumpit win the 1,000-yard freestyle in a time of 9:59.81.
The Lords had three other individual-event winners against Oberlin. Junior
Colin Reardon won the 200-yard individual medley in 2:00.69, freshman
Ben Shropshire took first in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 53.34, and freshman
Ben Czech clocked in at 54.38 to win the 100-yard backstroke.
At Oakland, an NCAA Division I institution, the Lords were unable to come away with any event victories, but did log eight runner-up showings.
Freshman
Bryan Fitzgerald and senior
Humphrey Pruett each accounted for two of those second-place finishes. Fitzgerald claimed those spots in the 500-yard freestyle and the 1,000-yard freestyle. His times were 4:41.15 and 9:39.54, respectively. Pruett was second in the two breaststroke events. In the 100, he turned in a time of 58.24 and in the 200, he posted a 2:08.03.
Other runners-up for Kenyon included
Robert Williams in the 200-yard freestyle (1:41.50),
Jon Zimdars in the 200-yard butterfly (1:53.11),
David Fitch in the 50-yard freestyle (21.15) and
Luis Weekes in the 200-yard individual medley (1:54.68).
