Five Owls contribute to fifth-place finish

BEREA, Ohio -- A handful of runners from the Kenyon College track and field team competed Friday evening in Baldwin Wallace University's Mid-February Meet. The group of Owls earned a total of 39 team points, placing Kenyon fifth in the nine-team competition.

The top point-scorers for the Owls were sophomores Colter Murphy and Joshua Breard. Murphy won the 800-meter race in a time of 2:05.91 and, a few events later, Breard won the 3,000-meter run with a time of 9:13.98. Both those first-place times added 10 points to the Kenyon team total and Breard's mark went down as a season-best.

Another sophomore, Owen Rodstrom, tacked on a runner-up finish in the mile. He wrapped up that race in 4:50.89, adding eight more points to the Kenyon total.

In the 5,000-meter race, sophomore Noah Hopkins and senior Keegan Minahan placed third and fourth, respectively, and combined to earn 11 points. Hopkins crossed the finish line at 16:24.19 and Minahan crossed at 16:35.17. Both their times were season-bests, as well.
