Owls cap off fall schedule at Tartan Invite

LIGONIER, Pa. -- Putting a lid on its 2025 fall season, the Kenyon College men's golf team completed Tuesday the three-round, two-day Tartan Invitational hosted by Carnegie Mellon University and played at Laurel Valley Golf Club. Within the Invitational's 16-team field, the Owls claimed 13th place with a team score of 916.

Huntingdon College won the event with a stroke count of 886. Illinois Wesleyan University and University of Rochester tied for second place with scores of 889.

The highlight for Kenyon was a second round in which the Owls posted a nine-over-par score of 297. That was the fifth-best, second-round score among all teams in the field. During that round, junior Rafael Frias IV and sophomore Adrian Jordan fired one-over-par scores of 73, while sophomore Connor Gray added a 74 and first-year Andrew Hahn posted a 77.

While the second round, played Monday, went smoothly for the Owls, the first and third rounds did not go as well. The Kenyon team opened Monday's first round with a score of 312, which was 24-over-par. Hahn and junior Jonathan Oakes tied for the team lead with individual scores of 77. Gray added a 78 and Frias IV counted an 80.

In Tuesday's third and final round, Frias IV was low-man, as he put up a 75. Gray and Hahn carded 77s, and Oakes added a 78 to round out the team score at 307 for the day.

Frias IV completed the Invitational with a final score of 228 and wound up in a tie for 29th place on the individual leaderboard. Gray was just one stroke back, tying for 34th in the field of 87 golfers. Hahn tied for 44th (231), Oakes tied for 56th (233) and Jordan tied for 64th (235).
