Owls’ split-squad places ninth at OWU Invite

POWELL, Ohio -- A select few members of the Kenyon College men's cross country team made the short trip to Liberty Park on Friday evening to take part in the Ohio Wesleyan University Invitational. The split-squad Owls wound up scoring 265 points and placed ninth in the 12-team field.

The Owls' top runner was senior Owen Rodstrom, who clocked in at 27:43.8 and placed 50th among the race's 207 competitors. Rodstrom's classmate, Noah Hopkins, was not too far behind. Hopkins cleared the 8k course in 27:48.2 to land in 58th place.

Kenyon's next two scoring runners were first-year John Coffin and sophomore Dylan Ryznar. Coffin claimed 63rd place with a time of 27:51.0, while Ryznar ended up in 92nd place, crossing the line at 28:24.8.


The final scoring runner for Kenyon was first-year Luke Galik. He completed his run in 28:32.3 for 98th place.


While there were a total of eight Owls who ended up running at Liberty Park on Friday, the rest of the team is one state to the south, preparing to compete Saturday morning in the Swags Louisville Cross Country Classic.
