Smith secures NCAC honor after collegiate debut

CLEVELAND – After making his debut for the Kenyon College men's swimming and diving team on Saturday at a quad meet amongst three NCAA Division II squads, first-year diver Chase Smith earned the North Coast Athletic Conference's Athlete of the Week honor.

Smith, a native of West Bloomfield, Michigan, competed in one-meter diving against a field of four divers from host University of Indianapolis, a Division II school, and fellow Kenyon teammate, James Lackner.

Amassing a score of 450.33, Smith beat the second-place diver by more than 30 points en route to his first collegiate win and the Owls' lone event victory of the quad meet.

The Kenyon divers will be back in action on October 10 to participate in the Don Leas Diving Invite in Clarion, Pennsylvania.
