Brown is NCAC runner-up, Owls place fifth

GAMBIER, Ohio -- Hosting the 2025 North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) Women's Cross Country Championship on Saturday afternoon, the Kenyon College Owls scored 145 points and claimed a fifth-place finish in the field of eight teams.

Ohio Wesleyan University scored 43 points and collected the program's first-ever NCAC title in women's cross country. John Carroll University, new to the conference this year, tallied 53 points for the runner-up spot, and DePauw University, last year's conference champion, finished third.

The Owls were led by senior Anna Brown, who traversed the 6K course in 22:27.4, which was good for an individual second-place finish and a spot on the All-NCAC First Team. Junior Olivia Ide was Kenyon's next runner to finish, as she clocked in at 23:51.1 and took 25th place, narrowly missing out on her second career all-conference award.

Lucie Prior tacked on to Kenyon's total with a 41st-place finish, stopping the clock at 24:36.7, which was a personal collegiate-best for the sophomore.

Kenyon's other two scoring runners were sophomore Cassidy Kaler and junior Hannah Gross. Kaler ran the course in 25:10.6 and Gross did so in 25:34.4. Kaler ended up in 55th place and Gross wound up with a 62nd-place finish in the field of 86 runners.

The only person in the field to beat Brown to the finish line was race-winner Zoe Ward of Ohio Wesleyan. Her individual winning time was 22:10.9, about 16 seconds quicker than Brown.

The Owls season will resume in two weeks, when the team heads to Louisville, Kentucky for the NCAA Regional Championship.
