Quartet of Owls earn All-NCAC honors, staff named Coaching Staff of the Year

CLEVELAND — The North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) announced its 2025 All-NCAC Women's Soccer teams on Tuesday, November 12, and the Kenyon College Owls were well represented with four players earning honors alongside Head Coach Sarah McClellan and her staff being named the NCAC Coaching Staff of the Year.

The award recognizes McClellan, assistant coach Sean Dale, and volunteer coach Harrison Zaye for their leadership in guiding the Owls through a remarkable turnaround season. Despite the season-ending loss, the Owls (9-4-5) closed out their campaign with heads held high. Their nine wins were the most since 2017, marking an improvement of eight more victories than the previous season's total. Under the staff's direction, the 2025 team also set new single-season program records for fewest goals allowed (9), goals-against average (0.50), and shutouts (11).

Leading the backline, senior defender Brooke Heis earned a spot on the All-NCAC First Team, marking her second career all-conference selection after securing Third Team honors last season. A cornerstone of Kenyon's defense, Heis was one of only two players to start and play in every game, leading the team in total minutes (1532). She also contributed offensively, finishing tied for the team lead with two assists, while anchoring a backline that produced 11 clean sheets.

Sophomore forward Emily Copeland followed up her award-winning debut season with another standout performance, earning All-NCAC Second Team honors for the second straight year. The 2024 NCAC Newcomer of the Year led the Owls' attack once again, pacing the team with nine goals and 18 total points, including one game-winning strike. Her 68 total shots and 36 on target topped the team and ranked among the conference's best, as she averaged 3.00 shots per game, the highest in the NCAC.

First-year standout Addison Szollosi made an immediate impact in her debut season, earning a spot on the All-NCAC Third Team. Playing in all 18 matches with 16 starts, Szollosi logged the second-most minutes on the team (1,189) and proved to be a consistent attacking threat. She tallied four goals and eight total points, including two game-winners, and ranked 14th in the conference in both total shots (32) and shots on goal (15).

Joining her on the third team was fellow first-year defender Hannah Schmidt, who also impressed in her collegiate debut. Schmidt appeared in all 18 games and started eight, amassing 1,101 minutes, eighth-most on the roster. Like Heis, she was part of the Owls' unstoppable defensive unit that posted 11 shutouts and added two assists to her stat line to tie for the team lead.

In addition to their All-NCAC honors, Heis and Schmidt were also named to the NCAC Women's Soccer All-Tournament Team.
