CLEVELAND, Ohio -- The Kenyon College men's swimming team fell 169-128 to Case Western Reserve University in a non-conference dual meet on Saturday afternoon. The hosting No.14-ranked Spartans edged out several close races to secure the overall victory, handing the No. 6-ranked Owls a defeat in Kenyon's final regular-season outing.
Individual event wins came from several Owls, highlighted by junior Ethan Manske's stellar double-win performance. Manske dominated both the 200-yard butterfly (1:49.49) and 200-yard backstroke (1:48.53), showing his versatility across multiple strokes. Both times came in under the NCAA 'B' cut threshold, but neither mark was faster than his season-best swims.
Junior Kirill Sidorko continued his strong season by winning two events as well. Sidorko touched first in both the 100-yard breaststroke (56.48) and 100-yard individual medley (50.63), demonstrating his versatility across multiple disciplines.
Djordje Dragojlovic, another junior, provided another highlight for Kenyon with a win in the 100-yard backstroke, touching first in 49.04. In the sprint events, first-year Spencer Stluka claimed victory in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 21.37.
Charlie Green, a sophomore, had a strong showing in the distance events, winning the 500-yard freestyle in 4:42.25 while touching third in the 1,000-yard freestyle (9:49.70).
The closest race of the day came in the opening 200-yard medley relay, where Kenyon's top quartet of Dragojlovic, Sidorko, Neil Abrahamson, and Peter Dunson finished just behind CWRU's leading squad, 1:30.63 to 1:31.28.
In the diving events, first-year James Lackner showed promise with a third-place finish on both the one- (292.95) and three-meter (282.75) boards.
The Owls will now prepare for the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) Championship as the team is seeking a third straight conference crown. The four-day meet is set to begin at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, February 12, at Denison University's Trumbull Aquatics Center.
