Lackner represents Owls at NCAA Diving Regionals

GRANVILLE, Ohio -- James Lackner represented the Kenyon College men's swimming and diving team at the 2025 NCAA Division III Region 1 Diving Championships on Friday, competing in the first of two days at nearby Denison University's Trumbull Aquatics Center. The meet started from the top board, where Lacker landed 14th in the three-meter standings.

Lackner finished the day with a score of 370.60 after a slate of 11 dives. The score put the first-year in 14th place among the 17 Region 1 divers competing for six spots in the upcoming 2025 NCAA Men's Division III Swimming & Diving Championship.

The first-year's best scores came toward the end of his outing. Lackner tallied a 49.95 on his penultimate dive, an inward 2 ½ somersault tuck that went down as his top score of the day. Just two dives earlier, he had his second-best score, a back 2 ½ somersault tuck that added 44.80 points to his total. Six of his 11 dives scored 30 or more points, and he rattled off a stretch of three straight dives that all scored between 37.80 and 39.60 points on his fourth, fifth, and sixth leaps. Lackner's first dive earned the best scores from the judges, with three 7.0s and a pair of 6.5s, but the forward dive pike was only worth 30.00 points due to a 1.5 difficulty score.

Lackner and the Owls will now look to tomorrow's one-meter competition, which is scheduled to start at noon.
