Four Owls named to Hampshire Honor Society

IRVING, Texas – The National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame announced Wednesday the names of those players who made the 2024-25 Hampshire Honor Society, a group of football student-athletes in their final year, from all collegiate divisions, who maintained a cumulative 3.2 grade point average or better throughout their collegiate careers.

Included on the prestigious list were Kenyon student-athletes Luke Caress, Drake Lewis, Park Penrod, and Max Pollio

Overall, a record 2,532 players from 339 schools qualified for membership in 2025, marking the largest class in the program's 19-year history. Since its inception, the initiative has honored 20,946 student-athletes.

Caress, a defensive lineman and a psychology major, had his best season as an Owl. In 10 games played, he racked up 31 tackles, including 10.5 tackles-for-loss, and four quarterback sacks. Additionally, he batted down four opponents' pass attempts.

Kenyon's other three honorees played on the offensive side of the ball. Lewis, a running back and mathematics major, piled up a team-best 451 rushing yards to go along with four touchdowns. Penrod, a quarterback and political science major, threw for 1,584 yards and seven touchdowns. Pollio, an offensive lineman and a political science major, cleared the way for the Owls to average 227.8 yards per game and 17 total touchdowns.

"In today's era of NIL and the transfer portal, we firmly believe that education remains the key to long-term success," said NFF President and CEO Steve Hatchell. "These results reaffirm that academics are still top of mind for today's student-athletes. We salute the schools, coaches, and administrators who continue to champion education as a core part of the student-athlete experience. We'll keep doing everything we can to promote those academic ideals and ensure education stays central to the holistic development of every student-athlete."

This year marked the fifth straight in which the Kenyon football program had at least four Hampshire honorees and marked the 16th straight in which the program had at least one honoree.
