2025 football season preview

GAMBIER, Ohio – The Kenyon College football team enters the 2025 campaign on the heels of the program's best season since 2012. Equipped with returning contributors on both sides of the ball and an abundance of hungry young talent, the Owls look to improve their ranking in the highly-competitive North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC).

2024 Review
Kenyon posted a 5-5 record last fall, including a 4-4 record in the conference, good enough for fifth place in the NCAC ranks. The Owls also boasted a 3-2 record at McBride Field, capped off by a dramatic comeback victory against Ohio Wesleyan University to end the 2024 campaign.

Coaching Staff
Ian Good enters his fourth season at the helm for Kenyon and ninth overall with the program. During his tenure as head coach, Good has logged 10 wins for the Owls and has sent 16 players to the All-NCAC squad. Blake Cattrell returns as the offensive coordinator for his third season, while Ken Delgado commands the defense for his second season, looking to back up his successful debut.

NCAC Preseason Poll
Kenyon racked up 29 points in the NCAC coaches' preseason poll, slotting the Owls seventh out of nine teams. DePauw University took home the top spot with 75 points, while Wabash College narrowly edged out conference newcomer John Carroll University with 64 and 63 points, respectively.

Returning All-Conference Honorees
The Owls sent four players to the All-NCAC team last season, all on defense, and two of them return for the 2025 season ahead. Junior defensive back Dominic Simpson is back after posting back-to-back all-conference selections. In 2024, Simpson led the team in tackles (82) and also had three tackles-for-loss, four pass break-ups, one interception, and one fumble recovery. Jared Hancock, a linebacker returning for his senior season, tied for second on the team with 52 tackles in 10 games played. Eight of his tackles went down for losses and one was a sack. He forced two fumbles, helping the Owls lead the conference in that category.

Returning Statistical Leaders
On offense, Kenyon returns all three of its receiving leaders. Dylan Carlquist led the Owls in 2024 with 361 yards, while Brendan Comeford and Charlie Taylor were both not far behind with 336 and 321, respectively. Simpson (82) and Hancock (52) lead the defense in tackles, while Jackson Belyn looks to add to his interception collection after recording a team-high three last season. On special teams, Tyler Bell will again be the Owls kicker, knocking through six field goals and 13 extra points in 2024. Jordon Benjamin, who led Kenyon in 2023 with 963 all-purpose yards and nine touchdowns, also makes his return to the Owls after stepping away from the team in 2024.
