CLEVELAND, Ohio -- The North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) announced the final wave of Athlete of the Week winners for the 2024-25 academic calendar, and Kenyon College's Frank Lynch landed on the list to cap a fantastic start, season, and career. The senior was named as the NCAC Pitcher of the Week following a start against The College of Wooster that saw Lynch earn the win while helping Kenyon close the 2025 campaign on a high note.
Lynch's efforts on the season's final day might have gotten lost in the shuffle of the crazy ending to the doubleheader, but the senior started the wild day on the mound and helped lead the Owls to victory. The lefty left it all out on the field in his final game and turned in one of his season's best starts. Lynch looked great over 5.0 innings against the Fighting Scots, allowing just one hit while striking out four hitters. The Owls went on to shut out Wooster 5-0 as fellow senior Christian Harris closed out the final four innings. The shutout was Kenyon's second of the season, and Lynch and Harris also combined to lock down the other earlier this year.
During the year, Lynch was one of the leaders of Kenyon's pitching staff. The senior won a team-high five games, going 5-3 over 10 appearances and nine starts. His 4.12 ERA ranked third among qualified Owls pitchers, and it was the 11th-best mark amongst qualified NCAC hurlers. Lynch led Kenyon with a career-high 51 strikeouts, which ranked fifth in the conference. He pitched a career-high 43.2 innings to tie for the team lead, and his .250 batting average allowed to opposing hitters ranked third on the team and eighth-best in the league.
The award marked Lynch's second career NCAC Athlete of the Week honor after being named Pitcher of the Week back as a first-year in 2022.
