Jaiden Koonar and
Rafael Frias IV, key members of the Kenyon College men's golf team this past season, were named Tuesday to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) 2024-25 At-Large Academic All-District Team.
In order to be considered for the At-Large Academic All-District Team, a nominee had to be on the team's active roster for at least two years and had to possess at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average. Additionally, for golf, the nominees had to compete in a minimum of 70 percent of the team's total varsity events and/or be a part of the team's scoring lineup at a conference championship.
The CSC At-Large program includes nominees from 10 different NCAA men's sports (two of which Kenyon offers), and limits each institution to six nominees. Kenyon filled that allotment with the three golf honorees, as well as three more honorees from the men's lacrosse team.
Ouellette, who graduated in May with a degree in economics, played on three NCAA Championship rosters for Kenyon. The past season, he helped the Owls to a tie for 13th place at the national tournament. He posted a 76.96 scoring average while competing in 24 rounds of play. Ouellette exited the program as a two-time all-conference player, as well as a one-time all-region and all-American honoree.
Koonar ranked third on the team with a scoring average of 74.04 across 28 rounds. He had three top-10 finishes, including taking medalist honors at the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) Championship. Koonar has also collected one all-region and two all-conference honors in his two seasons at Kenyon.
Frias came on strong late in the season and chalked up a 76.64 scoring average in 14 rounds played. He had one top-10 finish and he competed on the Owls' conference tournament roster, earning a spot on the 2025 All-NCAC Team. Away from the course and in the classroom, Frias focuses his studies on economics.
