Owls land five on CSC Academic All-District Team

GAMBIER, Ohio -- Five members of the Kenyon College Owls baseball team were named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) 2025 NCAA Division III Academic All-District Baseball Team. Those recognized, in an announcement made Tuesday, included seniors Dustin Lee, Frank Lynch, and Nate Rosen, as well as junior Niko Price and sophomore Tyler Nee.

To be eligible for the honor, a student-athlete had to be a key contributor who competed in at least 90 percent of the team's games, or started at least 66 percent of those games. For pitchers, eligibility started at 17 appearances or 25 innings pitched. The student-athlete also had to be on the team's active roster for at least two years and, most importantly, had to possess a minimum 3.50 cumulative grade point average. Each institution was allotted a maximum of five nominations.

The honor was the second for Lee, Lynch, and Rosen. Lee, a chemistry major, and Rosen, a psychology major, both won their first Academic All-District award last season. Lynch, also a psychology major, claimed his first award in 2023.

This past season, Lee operated as the Owls' primary first baseman, where he put up a .992 fielding percentage in 244 chances. At the plate, he posted a .331 batting average, which was second best on the team. He led the Owls in runs scored (28), home runs (6), and RBI (24).

Rosen was the team's shortstop and leadoff hitter. In his final season with the team, he generated a .322 batting average on 38 hits. He scored 26 runs, tallied 20 RBI, led the team with 23 walks and he swiped six bases. At the conclusion of the campaign, he was named a Third Team pick on the All-North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) squad.

On the mound, Lynch was one of the Kenyon's top three starting pitchers. He wound up working a little more than 43 innings and produced a 4.12 earned run average. He chalked up a team-high 51 strikeouts and went 5-3, the best win total on the staff. He did not yield a home run all season and he even notched his first career save in a game against Ohio Wesleyan University.

Nee and Price, two newcomers to the Academic All-District Team, rounded out the Kenyon infield. Nee, a physics major, manned third base, while Price, an economics major, handled second base duties.

Nee had 105 at-bats and logged a .276 batting average. He was a team-best 12-of-14 in stolen base attempts and he added 20 runs scored and 17 RBI. Price got to the plate 96 times and turned those trips into a .229 batting average with 16 runs scored and a dozen RBI.

The group of five Kenyon honorees played a big role in the team going 15-15-1 and finishing fifth in the NCAC standings.
