Pasco’s three goals power Kenyon past Oberlin

OBERLIN, Ohio — Saturday night, the Kenyon College women's soccer team (6-1-5) looked for its second win in a row. In the end, they secured that win convincingly in a 3-1 rout of Oberlin College (3-6-3) in a conference road match.

Though they only put up one goal from at the seventeen minute mark, Kenyon outshot Oberlin 14 to 3 in the first half. The Owls dominated possession and managed to create chances that gave them the edge. At the 17-minute mark, their efforts resulted in a goal from first-year Maia Pasco.

With Pasco still steering the ship, the Owls' attack exploded in the second half, putting another two scores on the board. And both of those scores came from Pasco, who posted her first collegiate hat trick. Overall, Pasco accounted for all three Kenyon goals, putting up eight shot attempts throughout the game.

Following her first-half goal, Pasco scored her first second-half goal in the 57th minute off an assist from Emily Copeland. Nine minutes later, she booted in her third of the game and her fourth goal of the season.

The Kenyon defense put on a nice display led by veterans Georgia Yatrakis, Fiona Dougherty, and Hannah Schmidt. Oberlin did manage to get a couple shot attempts — one of which was nicely saved by Kenyon's Lila Michael — off in the hope of a late rally, but the Yeowomen were only able to convert one, finalizing the 3-1 victory for the Owls.

After that well-deserved win, Kenyon moves on and will play at Mavec Field next Saturday. That game, which is the Owls' Senior Day, will be against Wittenberg University.
